Spanjer, Roger L. (23 JAN 1956 - 7 FEB 2012)

 

Roger L. Spanjer, 56, Neillsville, died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, at Memorial Medical Center in Neillsville.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 12 at Buchanan Funeral Home, Neillsville, with the Rev. Judy Anderson-Bauer officiating.

Family will greet friends after 1 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Roger was born Jan. 23, 1956, in Beatrice, Neb., to Fred and Viola (Harms) Spanjer. He received his education in Beatrice, Neb.

He was united in marriage to Susan Wedemann on Oct. 8, 1982, at Open Bible Church in Charles City, Neb.

Roger was employed as a dog catcher and mechanic. He worked five years at Shorts Fur Farm. He enjoyed fishing, liked animals and monster trucks.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Spanjer of Neillsville; children, Maria (Joshua) Barney of Florida, Joseph Spanjer of Eau Claire, Fred Spanjer of Neillsville, Ruth (Roy Armstrong Jr.) Spanjer of Neillsville, and Justin Spanjer of Medford; and six grandchildren, Bridget, Ryan, Gabby and Carl England Jr., Keith Jr. and Cody Szaflarski. 

He is further survived by a brother, Gene (Shirley) Spanjer of Fairbury, Neb.; and mother-in-law, Mary Wuerzberger of Neillsville.

He was preceded in death by a son, Derek Lee Spanjer; and a sister, Karron.
