St. Anthony’s Catholic Church of Loyal was the scene of the wedding of Miss Irene Catherine Wolf, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wolf, and Merlin Leslie Gardner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gardner, Granton, at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 19. The Rev, Father Norbert E. King was officiating clergyman for the nuptial mass and double ring ceremony.

St. Anthony’s girl’s choir sang the Nuptial High Mass with Sister M. Virginia as tge organist, The hymn, "O, Sanctissima" was sung as the bride placed a bouquet of blue and white carnations on the altar of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Arnold Wolf, brother of the bride, served at the Mass.

As Miss Wolf, escorted by her father, approached the gladioli trimmed altar she was wearing a floor length gown of net over satin. Her finger-tip, nylon tulle veil fell from a crown style headpiece accented with pearls. She carried a white prayer book and a bouquet of red roses and lily of the valley, with streamers tipped with rose buds.

Miss Janet Wolf was her sister’s maid-of-honor. She wore a floor length gown of layers of pink ruffles net over taffeta with a matching headpiece. Her flowers were pink and white carnations.

The four bridesmaids each wore a dress identical in style of make to the maid of honor’s dress but in varied colors, Miss Delores Wolf, sister of the bride, wore aqua; Miss Virginia Gardner, only sister of the groom, wore yellow; Miss Carole Elsinger, wore orchid; and Miss Dorothy Schmidt wore nile green. Each wore a headpiece and carried flowers to match the color of her dress.

Attendants of the groom were Jerry Schmidt, Neillsville, cousin of the bride, who was best man, and four groomsmen, Russell Gardner, Granton, cousin of the groom; Brian Schmidt, Neillsville, cousin of the bride; Jon Fisher, Spencer; and Wayne Gardner, Granton, cousin of the groom. Norman Wolf, brother of the bride, and Bill Todd, cousin of the groom, ushered.

Laurette Wolf, sister of the bride, wearing a floor length dress of white lace over taffeta and matching headpiece and carrying a basket of red rose buds, was flower girl, while her twin brother, Larry Wolf, was ring bearer and carried a heart-shaped pillow of white lace decked with red rose buds.

Both the bride’s mother and the groom’s mother, chose two piece navy blue sheath dresses with white accessories and pink carnations and pink rose buds.

A noon-time dinner and a supper were served at the church hall and a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents at 2:30 p.m.

The bride and groom are graduated of Loyal High School.

The bride is employed in the laboratory in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, and the groom is employed by the Roddis Plywood Corp., Marshfield. They will live at 713E. Dodge St., Marshfield.

A dance was given at the Silver Dome with music by the Ruby Grassel Orchestra.
