School Doings
GRAMMAR ROOM PLAY.
Monday evening, May 25, 1908, the eighth grade will give their
class play, "The Hickory Holler School," in the town hall, at eight
o'clock p.m. As the name implies the scene is that of an old
fashioned country school.
In addition to the play there will be several numbers given in the
line of music and declamations given as interludes. The evening
entertainment will be completed by a strong tableau.
Come and see what the environments of our forefathers may have
been. Admission ten cents.
**************
The Juniors give the Seniors a reception this evening, at the
Colburn building.
The outside schools will close next Friday afternoon, each one
having a program followed by a picnic, at which the parents of the
children are expected to be present.
The last meeting of the Literary society for the year was held at
the school house last evening and an exceptionally good program was
rendered. The work of the Literary society shows a marked
improvement over that of the first of the year. For the occasion of
last evening's meeting an exhibit of the students' school work was
made, by blackboard drawings and also geometrical figures made of
pasteboard and used for demonstration purposes.
The closing exercise of the Humbird Schools will be held next week
as noted in the program on this page. The grammar room will give
its play at the town hall on Monday evening, and on Friday they
will picnic on the south shore of Lake Emerson. The intermediate
department will also hold a picnic next Friday. The primary
department will unite in rendering a very good program next Friday
forenoon in Miss Clark's room. On the program are also a number of
Memorial day selection. In the afternoon the teachers and scholars
of those two departments will have a picnic in the grove on the
school grounds.
