Thompson, Esther H. #2 (15 AUG 1910 - 15 APR 1963)
Three weeks after she sustained serious injuries in a two-car crash on Highway 64, west of Medford, Mrs. Alfred Thompson, Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.), lost her battle for life.
She passed away Monday evening at University Hospital at Madison where she had been given expert and the best medical care since being injured on March 27.
One other person, five-year-old Duffey Marcott, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gaylen Marcott, rural Curtiss, was killed instantly in the same accident.
Funeral services for Mrs. Thompson were held at 2:00 o’clock this afternoon from the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church at Curtiss. Rev. Arnold Woodring officiated with burial made in Pine Hill Cemetery, Curtiss.
Mrs. Thompson, the former Esther Helen Pudlas, was born Aug. 15, 1910, in the Town of Mayville. She received her early education in the Curtiss school system after which she attended Taylor County normal nd business colleges at Wausau and Eau Claire. For nine years she pursued the teaching profession.
On June 6, 1936, she was united in marriage to Alfred Thompson in a ceremony performed at Curtiss. Since 1947 the couple has lived northwest of the village on a farm commonly referred to as the old Thompson farm. During her long residence in the community Mrs. Thompson had been most active in church, school and civic undertakings.
Her tragic death and suffering is mourned by her husband, a son, Dale of Greenwood; a daughter, Karen, who is at home; a sister, Mrs. Toivio (Grace) Kallio, Owen, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pudlas, Curtiss.
