Votava, Dawn Devonne (New Year’s Baby - 1 January 1965)
Five brothers and sisters were on deck to welcome the New Year’s Baby at Memorial Hospital.
The baby is Dawn Devonne Votava, the sixth child and third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vivian "Shorty" Votava, of Rt. 3, Neillsville. Mrs. Votava is the former Devonne Hanby of Neillsville.
Dawn did not keep the New Year waiting very long. She made her appearance at 2:35 a.m. on January 1.
Last year’s New Year baby, Mike Holub, Jr., did not make he appearance until the year was five days old. But things are different this year at Memorial Hospital. With four days gone five babies already had greeted the New Year there.
Dawn is a comely little miss, but not all aware of her charms. She weighed in at seven pounds, 10 ½ ounces and was 21 inches long.
Her three brothers and two sisters, in order of their ages are: Bruce, 9, Steve 8, Renae, 6 and a first grader; Janice 4, and Craig, 3.
Her grandmothers are Mrs. Meta Hanby of Neillsville and Mrs. James Votava, formerly of Neillsville and now living with a daughter in Plymouth. Her father is a construction worker and equipment operator.
