Gluch, Daniel Sr. (2 NOV 1848 - 14 NOV 1913)

Last Friday, Nov. 14, 1913, through a stroke of apoplexy, Dan Gluch Sr., one of this town’s pioneers, best known and most respected citizens, answered the final summons.

Daniel Gluch was born in Germany 65 years ago the 2nd of this month, was married there to Miss Mary Pischer and with her, his bride, came to this country and settled on the farm in this town where he has lived continuously more than two score of years.  He is survived by this estimable woman and seven worthy children, namely August, Tena, Mrs. Henry Garbush, Daniel Jr., Herman, Amelia, Mrs. Robert Garbush, Ida, Mrs. Archie Howard, and John.  Alvin, the youngest, died in infancy 17 years ago.  The funeral was held Monday afternoon from the Grant German Lutheran Church, with Rev. J. Reiff officiating, and interment made in the Fischer Church Cemetery.  The pallbearers were Wm. Schoengarth, Aug. H. Riedel, J. Garbush, F.D. Riedel, Herman Thiel and David Hillert.  August Hammler was the undertaker in charge.  Among the out of town friends in attendance were a large number from Neillsville, with Henry Beer of Marshfield and Mike Hubing of Athens.

The large company of friends attending and the floral tributes mutely bespoke the esteem in which the deceased was held.
