Afkind, Helen (7 April 1884 - 8 January 1964)
Funeral services were held Monay in Dodgeville for Mrs. Martin Afkind, 80, of Loyal, a former resident of Greenwood and Neillsville. Mrs. Afkind died Friday in Neillsville following a heart attack. She had been in failing health for the last five years.
The Rev. Paul Doering of the Methodist Church in Loyal officiated. Burial was made in the Otter Creek Lutheran Cemetery.
Mrs. Afkind, the former Helen Johnson, was born April 7, 1884, in Richland Center. She married Martin Afkind April 8, 1903, there. They lived there until 1918, and then made their home in Clark County until 1953, when they moved to Dodgeville. Since Mr. Afkind’s death in 1963, Mrs. Afkind had lived in Loyal with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Edwards.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. May Little of Eau Claire and Mrs. Louis (Ruby) Edwards of Loyal; a son, Donald, of Neillsville; a brother, Frank of Enid, Okla.; and a sister, Mrs. Charles (Hattie) Jones of Richland Center; ten grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, also survive.
