Beyreis, Verlyn E. (5 JAN 1931 - 16 FEB 2012)

 

Verlyn E. Beyreis, 81, of Marshfield, formerly of Spencer, passed away in the evening on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, at the House of The Dove in Marshfield under the tender care of Ministry Home Care Hospice.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, at Life Tributes Funeral Home in Spencer. The Rev. David DePaoli will officiate. Private committal services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in the town of Brighton. His family will receive relatives and friends on Monday at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until time of service. Military rites will be conducted Monday evening following the services.

Verlyn was born on Jan. 5, 1931, in Unity, the son of the late Ernest and Blanche (Kayhart) Beyreis. Years later he joined the United States Army and served his country during the Korean War. During his military leave, Verlyn returned to the area and married the former Vernice Cramer on Aug. 8, 1953, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer. After re-enlisting in the United States Army, Verlyn served an additional two years as a staff sergeant with communications while stationed in Karlsruhe, Germany. He was honorably discharged from the Army in May of 1956.  

Verlyn was employed at General Farm Supply in Spencer as a mill worker until his retirement in 2001. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer and also held various offices on the church council at Trinity Lutheran Church. His hobbies included fishing and hunting and working in his vegetable garden.

Survivors include his loving wife, Vernice Beyreis of Marshfield; six children, Terry (Bonnie) Beyreis of Spencer, Jane (Jim) Krause of Spencer, Alan (Linda) Beyreis of Garrison, N.D., Pamela (Mark) Krause of Spencer, Kevin (Sharon) Beyreis of Spencer, and Wendy (Matt) Bychinski of Earlham, Iowa; 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Verlyn is further survived by three sisters, Shirley Nevala of Withee, Joyce Bomback of Willard and Gayle Zorman of Spencer.  Verlyn is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Keith Beyreis; and one sister, Phyllis Loos.
