Steinwand, Leon J. (28 APR 1913 - 15 FEB 2012)

Leon John Steinwand, 98, of Owen, died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012, at the Clark County Health Care Center, Owen.

Leon was born April 28, 1913, in rural Colby to Theodore and Pauline (Orth) Steinwand. He was a graduate of Colby High School and farmed for a number of years in the Colby area.

Leon married the former Betty Elizabeth Klein on Oct. 2, 1935, at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church in Stratford. He was a retired maintenance man from Foremost Foods in Owen.

He is survived by two daughters, Catherine Steinwand and Mary (Mike) Steinwand Devine; three grandsons, John (Tracy), Don (Jane) and Jim Devine; and five great-grandchildren,Molly, Michael, Addison, Piper and Aidan.

Leon is preceded in death by his wife; Betty Elizabeth Klein Steinwand; his parents, Theodore and Pauline Steinwand; and a sister, Leona.

A private service will be held in the spring.

The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen is assisting the family with arrangements.
