Seebandt, Helen (24 January 1885 - 12 February 1965)

 

Funeral services were held Tuesday for Mrs. Helen A. Seebandt, 80, of Rt. 1 Greenwood, who died Friday in Neillsville. The Rev. F. C. Benecke of the Zion Lutheran Church of Granton officiated at services from St. John’s Lutheran Church in Christie. Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

 

Mrs. Seebandt was born January 24, 1885, in Germany, where she received her education.  On October 29, 1905, she was married there to the late Henry Seebandt. They came to the United States May 6, 1906, locating in Illinois, where they resided for seven years. They moved to Juneau County, where they were engaged in farming for 30 years before coming to Clark County in 1943.  They located on a farm in the Town of Weston.  She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Christie.

 

Surviving are three children: Henry of Rt. 1, Neillsville, Herman of Rt. 2, Loyal, and Mrs. Haywood (Margareta) Watson of Garland, Tex.; two sisters, Mrs. Wallace (Freda) Wilkerson  of Missouri and Mrs. Peter Klemenz of Esserville, Mich.; and seven grandchildren.

Mrs. Seebandt died February 12, in Neillsville and services were held from St. John’s Lutheran Church in Christie, with the Rev. F. C. Benecke of Granton in charge.

 

"The Old Rugged Cross" and "Asleep In Jesus" were sung by Misses Coleen and Connie Montgomery, accompanied by Mrs. Leland Garbisch, all of Granton.

 

Pallbearers were: Henry Markwardt, Clarence Ratsch, Donald Drescher, Roy Thompson, Wilmer Lueck and Leon Metcalf.  Members of the Ladies Aid of St. John’s Lutheran Church of which Mrs. Seebandt was a member, attended the service in a body.

 

Those attending services included: Mr. and Mrs. Howard Watson of Garland, Tex.; Mr. and Mrs. E. Koca of Elroy; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Matzke of New Lisbon; Mr. and Mrs. Milton Mitter of Vesper; Mrs. F. C. Benecke, Misses Connie and Coleen Montgomery and Mrs. Leland Garbisch of Granton; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Aga, Franklin Walter and Mr. and Mr. Noel Olson, all of Loyal.

 

From Greenwood were: Mrs. Pete Boon, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Boon, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Bird, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Drescher, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Holt, Donald Holt, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Tichy, Mrs. Edward Anderegg, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Ratsch, and Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Lueck.
