Saturday, June 8, 1963, Miss Karen Mary Potocnik, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Potocnik, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), became the bride of Elliott S. Paulsen, son of Mrs. Valborg Paulsen, Balsam Lake, and the late Alexander Paulsen, in a 4:00 p.m. candlelight ceremony at the Nazareth Lutheran Church, Rev. Beryl Knudsen officiated, with Dr. Johannes Knudsen, uncle of the groom, assisting.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a chapel length gown of silk faced peau di soie. The fitted bodice featured a scoop neckline that was accented with seed pearls and clear beads, and long traditional tapered sleeves. The skirt was fashioned with un-pressed pleats and the appliqued lace was repeated on the front of the skirt, the back pleats formed the chapel train. A princess crown of lace and pearls held the silk illusion fingertip veil, and the bride carried lily of the valley over a white Bible.
Miss Kristi Potocnik, Owen, attended her sister as maid of honor. Mrs. William Pawlak, Chippewa Falls, and Miss Lila Ahola, Poplar, were the bridesmaids. They wore floor length sheaths of summer taffeta in Dior blue. The fitted bodice featured a scoop neckline and elbow length sleeves. The straight skirts were styled with a bouffant carriage back overskirt. They wore matching Dior blue picture hats and carried a single long stem pink rose.
Best man was Allan Paulsen, Balsam Lake and brother of the groom. Groomsmen were John Ruck, Balsam Lake, and Paul Johnson, Minneapolis. Ushers were Duane Hendrickson, Balsam Lake, and William Pawlak, Chippewa Falls.
A reception was held following the ceremony in the church hall.
The bride is a 1963 graduate of Stout State College where she was affiliated with Delta Zeta sorority. The groom is a 1960 River Falls graduate and is a teacher in the Unity school system, Milltown.
