Last Saturday evening as James Quicker returned from Neillsville he was introduced to W. Guk in the village of Chili.  After the formal greetings of the newly acquainted they started on their homeward trip, through mud and oncoming darkness with a nag that has only one eye and no brains to speak of , their trip was a pleasure until they reached a bridge in the vicinity of Harry Eide’s cheese factory, when their faithful beast, disobeyed his master’s command by upsetting the buggy and dumping the occupants into 4 feet of mud and water.  The outcome of this accident would have been serious had not Harry Eide heard their feeble cries for help and came to their rescue in an excited condition, barefooted and his suspenders fluttering in the evening breeze.  After borrowing a new harness and buggy they reached home without further incident.

Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Neinas spent Sunday at C. Guk’s.

Ed Guk, son of Chas. Guk, had the misfortune to cut his hand quite badly on a broken bottle while cleaning up in the granary one day last week.  The injury gave him considerable pain and itw as feared for a time that blood poisoning might set in.

Mrs. Dora Grottke returned last week from a several week visit at Chicago.  On her trip down she was accompanied by A. Pusheck.
