Jasurda, Philip (Military Notes - 1965)
Two Greenwood men completed eight weeks of military police training March 19 at the army training center in Fort Gordon, Ga. They were Edwin E. Barth, son of Mrs. Gertrude L. Barth of Rt. 2, and Philip K. Jasurda, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. John F. Jasurda of Greenwood. Jasurda’s father is the Greenwood chief of police. The two men’s training included instruction in civil and military law, traffic control, map reading, prisoner-of-war control and self defense. Jasurda entered the Army last November. He is a 1964 graduate of Greenwood High School. A graduate of Thorp High School with the class of 1961, Barth, 21, also entered the Army last November. He had attended the college of agriculture at the University of Wisconsin. Both men completed basic Army training at Fort Knox, Ky.
