Meyer, Pfc. Frederick A. (Military Notes - 1965)
Pfc. Frederick A. Meyer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Meyer, Rt. 2 Loyal, participated in a three-week field training exercise at Grafenwohr, Germany. During the training, which ended April 15, he took part in weapons firing and various tactical maneuvers designed to test the combat readiness of his unit.
The 22-year-old soldier, a survey computer in headquarters battery, 6th battalion, 9th Artillery, near Giessen, Germany, entered the army in May, 1964. He completed basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., was last assigned at Fort Sill, Okla., and arrived overseas on this tour of duty in October 1964.
A 1960 graduate of Loyal High School, Meyer attended Wisconsin State College in Black River Falls. Before entering the Army, he was employed by American Motors in Kenosha.
