Suchanek, Jerry (28 October 1905 - 3 May 1965)

 

Funeral services for Jerry Suchanek, 50 (60), well-known Hatfield dancehall and night club operator who died of a heart attack early Monday morning at his home, were held Wednesday afternoon in Black River Falls.

 

The Rev. A. J. Thuecks of Black River Falls officiated, and burial was made in the Hatfield Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were: Edward Prusa, Harry Palms, George and Anton Matalas, Harvey Krueger and Harry Frantz.

 

Soloist was Gavin Upton, Black River Falls music instructor, and accompanist was Mrs. Catherine Cole. Both are former Neillsville residents.

 

Suchanek, who with his wife Helen had operated the Inwood night club and ballroom for the last 15 years.  He was known to have had heart trouble in the past; but his death was unexpected.

 

He was born October 28, 1905, in Bridgeport, Conn., Suchanek had been engaged in the casket manufacturing business in Cicero, Ill., before purchasing the Inwood from Edward Prusa.  He was a member of the I. O. O. F. Lodge in Chicago.

 

Surviving are: his wife, Helen; a son, Jerry, Jr., in the armed forcers stationed on the west coast; a daughter, Mrs. Michael (Helen) Borchert of LeSueur, Minn.; and his mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Honzik, Sr., of Neillsville.
