Weber, Marie D. (15 MAR 1918 - 25 FEB 2012)

Marie Dorothy Weber, 93, Dorchester, died Feb. 25, 2012, at Inn Care in Abbotsford. 

A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2012, at Saint Louis Catholic Church, Dorchester, with the Rev. Robert Gosma, friend of the family, and Rev. Daniel Hackel, pastor, officiating. 

Marie Weber was born on March 15, 1918, in Dorchester to Sophie (Stoiber) and Joseph Dessl. She graduated from Saint Louis Catholic School where she received an award in spelling entitled "The Jones Spelling Certificate" because of her high score. 

Marie married Joseph Weber on June 6, 1939, at Saint Louis Catholic Church. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1989. 

Marie resided in the town of Mayville with Joseph, where they raised six children and farmed for 54 years. All six of the Weber children were educated at Saint Louis Catholic Elementary School since a Catholic education was a high priority for both Joseph and Marie. 

At the age of 51, Marie underwent major brain surgery, losing the sight in one eye, along with speech, and had to re-Iearn all daily living skills. 

Joseph preceded Marie in death in 1994 which required the sale of the farm that same year, then Marie retired in Abbotsford for 10 years. With the onset of old age and health concerns, Marie moved to Inn Care and lived there for nine years. 

In addition to farming, Marie cultivated huge vegetable and flower gardens alongside Joseph. She was an excellent mother, cook, baker, and housekeeper. She enjoyed canning, crocheting, embroidery and music. In addition to her exceptional love for children, Marie also loved animals including cows, dogs, birds, and nurtured many calves, chicks and kittens. 

Marie was a member of the Saint Louis Catholic Church Choir, the Ladies Altar Society, and the Catholic Foresters' Society. Marie's deep Catholic religious faith was a mainstay all of her life. 

Marie is survived by her children: Pauline (James) Schiferl of Abbotsford, Jean Marie Weber of Wauwatosa, Kathleen (Ray) Stuttgen of Janesville, John (Kathy) Weber of Grafton, Virginia (Daniel) Peterson of Greenville, and Steven (Kerry) Weber of Port Washington. She is also survived by her sister, Dolores (Francis) Sebold of Dorchester. Marie has 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Sophie Dessl; and brother, Frank. 

Pallbearers will be grandsons: Robert Schiferl, Wayne Schiferl, Michael Schiferl, Rod Stuttgen, Scott Stuttgen, Christopher Weber, Andrew Weber, Joseph Weber, Matthew Peterson and Joel Peterson. 

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, with a rosary at 7 p.m., at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home, Abbotsford. Prior to the Funeral Mass on Thursday, March 1, 2012, visitation will be held at 10 a.m. at Saint Louis Catholic Church, County Highway A West, Dorchester. 

Burial will be in the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery.
