Obernberger, Lorraine V. (Bortz) (April 8, 1926 - February 12, 2012)
Lorraine V. Obernberger, 85, of Owen, died Sunday February 12, 2012, at InnCare of Abbotsford.
Lorraine was born April 8, 1926, in Butternut to the late Herman
& Viola Bortz.
She graduated from Butternut High School and later attended the
Beauty College of Milwaukee She worked in Chicago as a beautician
and in the Defense Plant during WWII.
On Dec, 17, 1949, she married the late Merlin Oberberger. They
farmed in Fifield, Oshkosh, and Owen. Lorraine was very active in
the church and enjoyed gardening, music, piano lessons, traveling,
and most of all spending a lot of time with her family and
grandchildren.
Survivors include four daughters, Sandra (Gary) Sommer, Debra (late
Randall) Thomas, Ronda (Dan) Gutenberger, ShyAnn (Douglas) Webb; 12
grandchildren, Meegan (Jim) Archambo, Michael (Marti ) Sommer,
Alexis Sommer, Timoly (Eric) Brodhagen, Theodore (Sara) Sommer,
Rachel (David) Baehr, Gina (Adam) Neace, Jacki (Eugene) Stelzel,
Matthew Thomas, Daya (Peter) DeVries, Jennifer (Todd ) Raatz, Donna
(Stephan) Felker; 22 great grandchildren; two sisters, Wynette
Obernberger, Lois Ledvina; and a brother, Harold Bortz.
Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Feb 18,
2012, at Zion Lutheran Church, 301 N. 2nd St, Colby. Visitation
will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the
church on Saturday.
A very special thank you to Penny Harrellson and staff at InnCare
of Abbotsford, for the very loving care of our mother and
grandmother.
In lieu of flowers-memorials will be given to a future
designation.
