Braatz, Nellie (11 March 1885 - 16 May 1965)

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the Zion American Lutheran Church in the Town of Grant for Mrs. Nellie Braatz, 80, of Neillsville, who died Sunday in Luther Hospital in Eau Claire. The Rev. Evan Dieck officiated. Burial was made in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Braatz, the former Nellie Ruege, was born March 11, 1885, in the Town of Grant. Her parents were the late William and Mary (Lund) Ruege. She spent her entire life in the Granton area.

On June 26, 1907, she was married to Herman Braatz in Granton.  Mr. Braatz died in 1957.  Mr. and Mrs. Braatz were engaged in farming in the Town of Grant until 1945, when they retired.  Mrs. Braatz moved to Neillsville about 20 years ago, making her home with her children.

She is survived by four children: Mrs. Esther Treichler of Menomonee Falls; Erwin Braatz of Eau Claire; Victor Braatz of Granton; and Donald Braatz of Neillsville; two sisters, Mrs. Alvin (Rose) Eisentraut of Neillsville, and Mrs. Emma Hubbard of Oshkosh. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
