Evelyn G. Bergemann, 94, Wisconsin Rapids, formerly of Greenwood, died on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012, at the Renaissance Assisted Living, Wisconsin Rapids, where she resided the past seven years. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Monday, Jan. 30, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greenwood. Rev. Joseph Follmar officiated. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Evelyn Gertrude Raab was born on Nov. 28, 1917, in Loyal, the daughter of Jesse and Vivian (nee Shupe) Raab. She was raised and received her education in the Loyal area, graduating from the Loyal High School in 1934. After graduating from high school, she worked for her father at the Raab Meat Market and Grocery Store in Loyal. She married Harland M. "Puffy" Bergemann on June 9, 1936, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Neillsville. Most of her time was spent taking care of her family, but she also enjoyed crafts, baking, knitting and sewing. Being a caring mother and a sweet, loving grandma and great grandma is how she will always be remembered. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greenwood, and an active member of St. Ann’s Society. She also belonged to the Royal Neighbors of America.
Survivors include four children, Richard (Sharon) Bergemann, Omaha, Neb., Mary (Robert) Barr, Wausau, Sally (Greg) Stelmacher, Wisconsin Rapids, and James (Kathi) Bergemann, Monroe, La.; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Harland "Puffy" Bergemann; her parents; one daughter, Joan Anderson; and two brothers, EWarl Raab and Leland Raab.
The family wishes to extend its sincere appreciation to the staff at Renaissance Assisted Living in Wisconsin Rapids, for the past seven years of friendship and the gentle, loving care she received. They would also like to thank Ministry Home Care Hospice for its dedicated service and family support.
