Alvin Grassman came home from Richland Center Wednesday.
Mot Osgood bought Mermal Wonser’s pony.
The next Married Folks Club dance will be held Friday evening, Dec. 26th.
The R.N.A. held a meeting and election of officers at the Knorr home Wednesday.
Mrs. Webb Winn spent Wednesday afternoon at Chili.
Mrs. W.J. Davis is reported as being very ill since late last week.
Geo. Beaver went to Loyal last week Thursday and helped his brother-in-law John Hubing in the raising of a big new barn.
Frank Tompkins came home yesterday to visit dad and mother and enjoy Christmas under the parental roof.
Herman Schoengarth moved up onto his new place, the wood land., recently purchased of John Kintzele last Monday, where he, with a crew of men are engaged in cutting timber.
Mrs. Brigg Sutherland and Mrs. Curtis Sutherland, with the latter’s 3 children, who are moving up from Vernon County to this new home in the town of Washburn, are since Thursday guests in the Chas. Christman home.
Harry Birch, Harry Davis, Pearl Lavey and Ethel Osgood spent Saturday evening with Frank Wood and Mrs. Gustie Breed. Games, music and light refreshments added to the evening’s pleasure.
Knorr & Rausch are still selling Ford cars and the Housley farm near the county farm has since taken on a Ford touring car.
August Lindow of Chili transacted business here on Thursday. This office acknowledges a pleasant call.
Next Thursday our regular weekly press day is Christmas so we request correspondents to get their news in on Monday and Tuesday at the very latest, that we may go to press on Wednesday and enjoy a holiday with the rest of you.
The M.W.A. held their annual election of officers Wednesday night, which resulted as follows: Dr. P.M. Ross, Ven. Counsel; J.W. Thayer, Adviser; E.A. Beeckler, Treasurer’ J.M. Tompkins, Clerk; Al Mabie, Escort; A.J. Knorr, Watchman; Geo. Fraser, Sentry; Dr. Ross, Physician; A.J. Knorr, Manager. A goodly number were in attendance. A fine lunch spread and enjoyed which altogether constituted a very enjoyable evening.
Mrs. Dan Sullivan of Phillips and Mrs. L.G. Zimmer and little daughter of Eau Claire, who had been to Almond to attend the funeral of the late Mrs. Hollenbach, stoped off here Wednesday for a visit at the George Hollenbach home.
W.D. Rose made an auto trip to Thorp, Longwood, Greenwood and Colby the first of the week, returning by way of Marshfield on Wednesday where Mrs. Rose, who went over by train, met him and accompanied him home.
Herman Schoengarth, while engaged with carpenter work for Loyal Jordan Wednesday was taken suddenly and alarmingly ill, and was brought home to his town residence where he has since been confined to his bed.
The many acquaintances and friends of Elizabeth Hatch among our readers will be pleased to learn of her success at the Stevens Point Normal where she is a student in the sophomore class. She has earned the reputation of being one of the strongest students in her class and her record of standings shows her untiring industry and perseverance. She has the unlimited confidence of both student body and faculty. This is shown by the fact that she was chosen to act as secretary of her class.
Herman Wegner has rented his saloon and hotel, the Forest House, to S. Gereke of Neillsville. Gereke is to take possession on New Year’s Day. Mr. Gereke, who has canvassed the county with the Raleigh remedies for the past 10 years, is well acquainted hereabouts. He needs no introduction to the majority of our readers, among whom he has many friends. Mr. Wegner and family will move into their private residence opposite the Dr. Rath home.
Mrs. Rush Wentworth and Mrs. F.J. Baer autoed to Marshfield last Saturday afternoon and spent the time with friends in that city.
Miss Effie Alt went home to Neillsville nightly last week, owing to the illness of her father. Mr. Alt is much improved since.
Mrs. Carl Roehl visited her son Herman and family at Chili on Tuesday.
Mrs. B. Tykac went to Merrillan Saturday on a several days visit.
Chas. Hubing arrived home from Glendive, Mont. on Friday. He went to Chili on Tuesday on business bent.
Mrs. Gustie Breed spent the 1st half of the week with Mrs. Frances Woodward and other friends at Neillsville.
Mrs. Deegan and Mr. and Mrs. H. Schnitzer of Watertown are guests in the Geo. Deegan home in the town of Lynn since Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Jensen, Mrs. Alice Hatch, Mrs. Phillip Breseman, Norma and Frieda Williams visited Neillsville friends Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. A.W. Hales returned home Monday after a 3 week absence in Minnesota and Iowa. Their daughter Miss Ella drove in and met them on Monday.
Miss Erna Schreiber, after a week’s visit with her aunt, Mrs. Dora Garbush and other relatives here, went home to Plymouth on Monday. Miss Clara Garbush accompanied her as far as Marshfield.
Master Donovan Mabie and little Charlotte Davis are recovering after a hard pull through pneumonia.
Mr. and Mrs. Rush Wentworth entertained several couple at cards Tuesday evening. Dainty refreshments followed and a pleasant evening was passed.
The first one of the Married Folk Club dances for this season was enjoyed last week Friday. A social good time was had by all fortunate enough to attend.
Miss Bertha Barth of Nasonville came over last Saturday and spent the time until Tuesday visiting among old friends. Mrs. John Barth, her mother, came over Tuesday morning and accompanied her home on the afternoon train.
Mrs. James Johnson of Nasonville a sister of Mrs. Hans Paulson is critically ill at her home there.
Dr. Milbee of Marshfield was here in consultation with Dr. Ross over Mrs. Arthur Phipps’ case on Wednesday.
Mr. and Mrs. John Hiles sold their property interests her last week and since Tuesday with their son Harry, are visiting at the John Martin home in Wausau. They have no definite plans for the future as yet.
Ed Strey, Will Lowery, W.W. Smith, Curtis and son, Fred Gerber, Dave Garbush and daughter Lillie, Miss Frieda Williams, Miss Gladys Wage, Mrs. Floyd Winn, Mrs. Joe Felzer, Dr. and Mrs. Rath, Mrs. A.J. Knorr, Mrs. Ross Paulson, Mrs. Laura Mason, Mrs. Geo. Beaver and Miss Emma Hillert were among the Grantonites who were at the county seat last Saturday.
Dr. P.M. Ross spent several days in Sheboygan County the first of the week on business bent.
Dan Rausch spent the first half of the week at Neillsville having dental work done. Mrs. Rausch and Master Roderick went down Wednesday and accompanied him home.
Max Schwanebeck and Victor Frederickson went to Mondovi Saturday where Max has since become a married man, being now a brother-in-law to Frederickson through a marriage to the latter’s sister Miss Ella. The newly wedded pair will return here shortly and take up their residence in the town of Sherwood where Max is successfully engaged in farming.
Mr. and Mrs. Klopf, their son and daughter with the latter’s beau, who for some time past have been visiting the Fred Schoengarth family, left for their home at Plymouth on Tuesday.
