Griepentrog, Raymond A. "Stub" (29 MAY 1914 - 1 MAR 2012)
Raymond "Stub" A. Griepentrog,
97, of Spencer, died Thursday, March 1, 2012, at Wells Nature View
in Marshfield.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 4, 2012, at
Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer with Rev. David DePaoli
officiating. Burial will be held in West Spencer
Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at
the church. Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home in Spencer is serving the
family.
Stub was born on May 29, 1914, in Spencer, the son of Fred and Ida
(Schroeder) Griepentrog. He was united in marriage to Anita
Schwantes on June 25, 1938, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer.
She preceded him in death on Oct. 20, 1998.
Stub farmed most of his life in the town of Spencer. He also worked
many second jobs throughout his life including driving school bus
for 30 years and working at Weyerhaeuser and Pathfinder. For the
last three years, he resided at Wells Nature View on Adams Street
in Marshfield.
Stub was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church all his life. He also
was volunteer fireman with
the Spencer Fire Department.
Stub enjoyed fishing, playing the accordion, and was a
well-respected well-witcher for many people.
Stub is survived by his son, Jerrold (Sandra) Griepentrog, Spencer;
and his daughter, Shirley (Kenneth) Hemenway, Sheboygan; five
grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and seven
great-great-grandchildren. He is further survived by a brother,
Donald; nieces, nephews, other relatives and
friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ida; his wife,
Anita; two brothers and a sister, Elmer, Eugene and
Caroline.
