 Francis, Clara (22 April 1865 - 25 July 1959)

Mrs. Clara Francis, 94, died in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield at 6 p.m., Saturday, July 25, of old age complications.

The former Clara Howard was born in Fond du Lac County, April 22, 1865.  She came to Clark County with her parents when a young girl.  They lived on a farm in the town of Eaton.

She was married to Albert Francis, Oct., 1887 in Clark Co., and continued to live on a farm in the town of Eaton until the death of her husband in 1924.  She then moved to Loyal with her daughter, Mrs. Blanche Schmidt and lived here for 34 years.

She is survived by two sons, Fred Francis of Medford, Oregon and Floyd Francis of Omaha, Nebraska; by one daughter, Mrs. Blanche Schmidt, of Loyal.  Also surviving are 15 grandchildren.  Three sisters and one brother preceded her in death.

Pallbearers for the funeral of Mrs. Francis were Neil Johnston, Tom Wepfer, James Bertz, Roland Seeman, Ray Prior and Raymond Neuman.

The hymns, "In The Garden" and "Abide With Me" were sung by Nelda Foelske.  Mrs. Byron Zepplin was organist.

Out of town people who attended the funeral or called at the funeral home were Elmer Luepke and Mrs. Rose Buetner of Racine; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Schmidt of Union Grove; Merrill Francis of Fargo, N.D.; Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Buetner, Hackensack, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Dan Francis, Mr. and Mrs. Art Francis, and Mr. and Mrs. Al Danker and children, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Francis, Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Luepke and Mrs. Otto Verce, Spencer; and from Greenwood, Mrs. Minnie Cox, Mrs. Lawrence Cox, Mrs. Carl Stabnow, John Syth, Mrs. Godfrey Dyre and children, Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Geisler and son and a group of men and women from the Clark County Home of Aged at Greenwood.
