DALE ENGEL PASSES AWAY ON NOV. 6

WELL KNOWN YOUNG MAN HAD BEEN IN ILL HEALTH FOR THE PAST FIVE YEARS; FUNERAL NOV. 9

(Spencer News)

Dale Engel, one of the better known young men of this community, passed away at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Engel, three miles west of Spencer, on Wednesday, November 6, 1940, at the age of 22 years.

Dale Woodrow Engel was born June 2, 1918, at the farm home of his parents, and had spent his entire life in this community, where he was highly respected.  He has been operating a milk route from this community to Marshfield.  He had been in ill health for the past five years and the cause of death was attributed to diabetic complications.

Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 9, at the home at 1:30 o’clock and the Methodist church at 2:00 o’clock, with Rev. Wm. Penn in charge of the services.  Music was furnished by a group of young people of the church and pall bearers were Vernal Haslow, Carl Schoolman, Harold Prechel, Donald Jensen and Roy Oelrich.  Burial was made in the Spencer cemetery.

The following acted as flower girls:  Rhoda Buse, Lorraine and Evelyn Prechel, Charlotte Bombard, Jeanette Luther and Lorraine Pederson.

Those who survive and mourn the loss of the son and brother are the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Engel, two brothers, Marvin and Norman Engel, and a nephew, Ray Engel, besides a host of friends who feel the loss of a staunch and worthy companion.
