Miller, Walter Otto (19 January 1892 - 14 July 1965)
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville for Walter Otto Miller, 73, of rural Neillsville, who died July 14, at the Veterans Hospital in Tomah. The Rev. David Witte of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Globe, officiated. Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
Mr. Miller was born January 19, 1892, in Hillsboro. He came to Clark County with his parents at the age of 20. The family located on a farm just south of Neillsville, where he and his brother, Otto, farmed for many years, taking over the farm from their parents in 1914. He later moved onto a farm in the town of Grant, where he farmed until 1961, when he moved to Neillsville.
He was married March 28, 1946, to the former Hertha Schierman, who died in 1961. His parents were the late Edward and Anna (Neniman) Miller. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Henry Zimmerman of Baraboo; two brothers, Henry Miller of Nekoosa and Otto Miller of Neillsville.
Mr. Miller was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Georgas Funeral home.
Pallbearers were: Hilbert Naedler, Paul A. Bartell, Roy Stanley, Robert Frantz, Leon Stanley and Brooks Karl.
Mrs. Harold Mayer, accompanied by Victor Lehmann sang, "Abide With me" and "I’m But a Stranger Here."
People from away attending the funeral were Henry Miller and Mrs. Don Morgan of Nekoosa; Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Zimmerman of Baraboo; Mr. and Mrs. Orville Evanson and son of Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. George Miller, Mrs. Lillian Steffen and Ed Steffen of Elroy.
