Mildebrath, Gertrude (22 August 1889 - 22 July 1965)
Funeral services were held Monday from the Neillsville Methodist Church for Mrs. Herbert Mildebrath, 75, of Rt. 3 Neillsville, who died here July 22. The Rev. Oscar Nichols officiated. Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
Mrs. Mildebrath, the former Gertrude Kelly, was born August 22, 1889, in Illinois. She was the daughter of the late Mike and Ida (Scrober) Kelly. She attended schools in Illinois and was a graduate of a beauty culture college in St. Louis, Mo. She worked and operated beauty shops in Illinois before coming to the Neillsville area in 1940. Since that time she lived on a farm in the Town of Washburn.
On July 27, 1929, she was married to Herbert Mildebrath in Chicago, Ill. She had been in ill health for the past two years.
Mrs. Mildebrath is survived by her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Reta Bendixen of Appleton; four sisters, Mrs. Leta Stanley and Mrs. Lorraine Moody of Duquion, Ia., Mrs. Ida Bidwell of St. Louis, Mo., and Mrs. Ethel Molla of Harron, Ill.; three brothers, Bert and Dewey Kelly of Duquion, Ia., and Ed Kelly of Oak Park, Ill. Other survivors are four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the Neillsville Methodist Church.
People from out of town here for the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Herman Kasten, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Bendixen of Appleton; Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Jones and family of North Lake, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Nantz; Albert Mildebrath, Sr., an Albert Mildebrath, Jr., of Chicago, Ill.; Edward Kelly and Mrs. Helen Neubecker of Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Illah Bidwell of St. Louis, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Blum and family of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Jacob and family of Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Williams and Mrs. Elmer Kapfer of Granton.
Pallbearers were: Ernest Ulrich, Robert Wucki, Helmuth Schultz, Ernest Backaus, Joe Kaczor and Don Lindow.
Wilfred Galstad, accompanied by Mrs. Jas. A. Musil, sang "Lead Kindly Light" and "One Sweetly Solemn Thought."
Funeral arrangements were made by the Georgas Funeral Home.
