Miss Frances Brooks, who has been attending state normal school at Aberdeen, S.D, returned home last Saturday for a short vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Brooks.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Foot of Langford, S.D. arrived this week and are visiting Mrs. Foot’s father, Wm. Yorkston.
Jim Tremelling of Marshfield came over on New Year’s Day and visited the John Altenburg family.
Werner Altenburg of Hazelgreen, Wis., is visiting his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. John Altenburg and relatives in Marshfield, and other friends in this vicinity.
Mrs. Elmer Rose and son Glen visited her sisters, Mrs. John Breseman and Mrs. Ed Ure during the holiday week.
Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Brooks and daughter Frances spent New Year’s Day with Mr. and Mrs. Chas. brooks.
John Altenburg Sr. had the new gas lights installed in their house just before Xmas. Mr. Miller of Grand Rapids put in the plant.
Mrs. Kate Hale had two slight strokes last week and had been confined to her bed since, and is very ill.
John Ure, Ernest Sternitzky and Henry Sternitzky and Aug. Dankemyer went to Neillsville New Year’s Day to attend the insurance meeting the directors held there this week.
Miss Gladys Altenburg, who is attending teachers school in Grand Rapids, visited her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. John Altenburg in this place, returned to Grand Rapides Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sternitzky entertained for dinner New Year’s Day nine families, all relatives, 45 people in all. A most Joyous New Year they say.
Mr. and Mrs. Max Opelt, who have been visiting their daughter Mrs. Paul Martin at Sheridan, returned to Lynn Tuesday in response to a message that Mrs. Hale was alarmingly ill.
Hebert and Chester Arndt of Neillsville spent the holidays with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sternitzky.
Mrs. Herman C. Schultz entertained her daughter from Ebbe New Year’s Day.
On Saturday evening a large party of young people gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Altenburg and gave Werner Altenburg and Miss Gladys Altenburg one of the finest parties the young folks in this vicinity enjoyed for a long time. A fine luncheon was served. Music and games were the entertaining feature of the evening.
Orvil and Werner Altenburg autoed to Marshfield last Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hankey entertained the Aug. Dankemyer and Ernest Keuer families New Year’s Day.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schuelke of Cobb are visiting their parents Mr. and Mrs. Aug. Gotter this week.
Robert Jackisch and wife and two children left this week for Dubuque, Iowa.
Miss Esther Grassman returned to Neillsville to resume her study in dressmaking.
Mrs. Fred Grassman gave a feather bee Saturday.
Miss Ross Viergutz returned home from Rochester last week for an indefinite stay with home folks.
Mrs. Wm. Sternitzky entertained the Carnation Art Club Friday.
Mrs. Davidson and Mrs. Schafer of Fremont came down to attend the club meeting at Mrs. Wm. Sternitzky’s Friday.
