Moskiewicz, Cecilia L. (6 OCT 1919 - 11 MAR 2012)
Cecilia L. Moskiewicz, 92, of
Thorp passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2012, at the Clark County
Health Care Center in Owen.
Funeral services will be held at 10;30 a.m. on Thursday, March 15,
2012,at St. Hedwig's Chapel in Thorp with the Rev. Don Meuret
officiating. Burial will follow in St. Hedwig's Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Peter S. Moskiewicz, Jody Moskiewicz, Dion
Moskiewicz, Trent Moskiewicz, Joey Skibinski, Molly Moskiewicz, and
William Tonn.
Visitation will be held at St. Hedwig's Chapel in Thorp on Thursday
from 9 a.m. until time of service.
Cecilia Lucy Benzschawel was born on Oct. 6, 1919, in the town of
Reseburg, rural Clark County, the daughter of Nick and Mary (Dulek)
Benzschawel and was educated at area schools.
She was united in marriage to Peter J. Moskiewicz in Thorp, Wis.,
on June 4, 1940.
She lived much of her life on the farm with her husband until 1969
when they moved to the City of Thorp. In addition to raising her
family, Celia was employed at the Thorpedo Restaurant and also
worked for ITT Life Insurance Corp.
Celia loved spending time with her grandchildren and was always
willing to lend a helping hand. She kept busy with garage sales,
flea markets, and auctions. She was well known throughout the area
to always have something new and interesting for everyone at her
many garage sales. Family members always ended up with a collection
of one sort or another. Celia loved to sew and embroider, making
many quilts and pillows for everyone.
She was a member of the Women's Catholic Order of Foresters, the
Clark County Extension Homemakers Sterling Club, the Thorp Area
Historical Society, and also was a member of St. Bernard-St.
Hedwig's Catholic Church and its' PCCW.
Celia is survived by two sons, Larry (Vicki) Moskiewicz of
Woodbury, Minn., and Dennis (Betty) Moskiewicz of Rockport, Texas;
one daughter, Cynthia Skibinski of Junction City, Wis.; six
grandchildren, Trent, Dion, Jody, Peter S., Molly and Joey; six
great-grandchildren, Madisyn, Kasey, Ryker, Jacob, Hope and Wendy;
and one great-grandchild on the way. She is also survived by her
daughter-in-law, JoAnn (special friend William Tonn) Moskiewicz of
Gilman; one brother-in-law, Henry Hicks of Boyceville; nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Peter J.
Moskiewicz; her son, Peter F. Moskiewicz; her son-in-law, Joseph
Skibinski; and her granddaughter, Jamie Lynn Skibinski. She was
also preceded in death by three sisters, Anna Benzschawel, Bernice
"Babe" Hicks and Marie Ebben; and one brother, Matt
Benzschawel.
