Seefeld, Frank W. (6 FEB 1859 - 20 APR 1941)

 

Frank William Seefeld was born in Pomerania, Germany on Feb. 6, 1859.  At the age of 14 he, with his parents, came to America.  For some time he lived in Iron Ridge.  In 1884 he came to Clark county where he purchased an 80-acre farm, the S. E. quarter of Sec. 27, in the town of Unity.  The same year he married Miss Emilie Schwantes and they settled on this farm where deceased lived until the time of his death.  Their marriage was blessed with five sons, who survive him.  Shortly after coming here Mr. Seefeld joined St. John’s Lutheran congregation.  For a number of years he was deacon of the church, Mr. Seefeld was supervisor of the town of Unity for a number of years.  Groveside school was built on the southwest cornerof the farm where he leased one acre to the district for school purposes.  Deceased lived on this farm for 57 years.

 

Mrs. Seefeld passed away June 25, 1923, since which time he has lived on this farm with his son, Albert and family.  The deceased was in poor health for some time, suffering from asthma and heart trouble.  He passed away at 6:45 a.m., Sunday, April 20.  His departure is mourned by his five sons and five daughters in law.  The sons are Herman, town of Sherman; Frank, Fred, Louis and Albert all of the town of Unity; sixteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren survive him, also one foster daughter, (Laura) Mrs. Walter Schilling of Wausau.  Albert Manthe is a half brother.

 

Deceased attained the age of 82 years, two months and fourteen days.  The funeral was held last Thursday afternoon at 1:00 o’clock at the farm home and 2:00 o’clock at St. John’s church, Rev. H. C. Hinz officiating.  Six grandsons acted as pall bearers and five granddaughters were the flower girls.
