Mrs. Carol Johnston and son of Bridgeport, Conn., arrived Friday for an indefinite visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alton Schmidtke.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kirk and family of St. Paul, Minn., visited Wednesday and Thursday at the Marvin Garbisch home and at the Howard and Roy Jennings homes near Chili.
Several friends and relatives met Saturday evening at the Wendell Elmhorst home in rural Neillsville honoring Mrs. Elmhorst’s mother, Mrs. Della Botnen of Neillsville, who was graduated from State University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire last Thursday evening. Present were Mrs. Botnen, Mr. and Mrs. John Hanson, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Counsell, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Haas, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Allen, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Ziegler and grandson, Melvin, all of the Neillsville area; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Trimberger of Granton; Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Trimberger, Mark and Lisa Ann, of Antigo also were present.
Brett Kevin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Noel Kirk of St. Paul, Minn., was presented for baptism in Zion Lutheran Church, Granton, by the Rev. F.C. Benecke. Brett’s sponsors were his maternal aunt and uncle, Carole and Gary Mitchell.
Mrs. Vera Hales is spending this week in Clintonville with her daughter, Hazel, and family.
Mrs. Ray Workman and two children of St. Paul, Minn., visited two days last week with her mother, Mrs. Lloyd Spry.
Mrs. Lloyd Spry was hostess to the Women’s Society of Christian Service of the Granton Methodist Church last Thursday afternoon. Twenty members attended.
Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Pischer and daughter of Douglas, Ariz., arrived Thursday for a visit of several days with his mother, Mrs. Anna Pischer.
Sunday guests of Mrs. Anna Pischer were Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Pischer and family of Neillsville, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Keuer of Marshfield, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Garbisch and family, and Miss Lydia Schune of the Granton area.
Mr. and Mrs. Lebrecht Kalsow of Neillsville visited Monday afternoon with her sister, Mrs. Anna Pischer.
Mr. and Mrs. Louie helm drove to Melrose Sunday, taking their two granddaughters, Kathy and Linda Seefeld, to their home. They had spent a week with their grandparents.
Saturday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Helm were Mrs. Eva Garbisch, and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Garbisch of Rochester, Minn., who also were weekend guests; and Mr. and Mrs. Louie Helm and Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Garbisch.
Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Witte drove to Mauston one day last week, taking their two grandsons, Marc and David Witte, to meet their parents, the Rev. and Mrs. Robert Witte of Madison. They had spent two weeks with their grandparents.
Mr. and Mrs. William Lehmann left Saturday for a weekend visit at the home of their son, Elroy Lehmann, and his family, in rural Westfield. Other members of the Lehmann family who spent the weekend there were Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Smith and family of Appleton, Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Dageforde and family of St. Paul, Minn., and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Lehmann and family of Hinsdale, Ill. Debbie and Lisa daughters of the Elroy Lehmanns returned with their grandparents to spend a week with them.
Elroy Lehmann, formerly of Granton, and his family are planning to move to Dallas, Tex., for a year’s residence. Elroy is employed by a large oil company.
Richard Smith and Harold Vanderwyst, who have enlisted in the air force, left Sunday for Minneapolis and from there went to San Antonio, Tex. They are stationed at Lackland AFB.
Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Schafer of Eau Claire visited Sunday afternoon at the LaVerne Vanderwyst home.
Darlene Vanderwyst is spending this week with a cousin, Kathy Vanderwyst, of Wisconsin Rapids.
Mrs. Gladys Douyette of Minocqua was an overnight guest of her brother in law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Zille. Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. Zille and Mrs. Douyette, accompanied by their sisters, Mrs. Armin Moh of Granton and Mrs. William Hintz of Marshfield, drove to Stevens Point, where they attended graduation of their sister, Mrs. Edna Suchy of Pittsville (a line cut off here).
