Fitzmaurice, John David (27 February 1899 - August 1965)
Funeral services were held from the First Methodist Church at Humbird for John David Fitzmaurice, 76, who died at his home after a short illness. The Rev. Ralph Walker of Fairchild officiated. Burial was made in the Mentor Cemetery.
Mr. Fitzmaurice was born February 27, 1899, in Eau Claire County, to the late David and Mary (Pierce) Fitzmaurice. He was married t o the former Annie Steiss of Menomonie. They lived in Menomonie for several years before moving to the Humbird area, where they had lived since.
Beside his wife, Annie, he is survived by five sons: David of Avalon, Jake and James of Neillsville, Gerald of Tomah, and Phillip of Humbird. One son, Tom, was killed while serving in the army in World War II. There are 14 grandchildren; four brothers, Louie, Levi, Sam, Jake; three sisters, Effie Brounell of Eau Claire, Ad Campbell of Fairchild, and Maggie Phillips of Clinton.
Pallbearers were: Louie, Levi, Sam and Jake Fitzmaurice, brothers, and Robert Fitzmaurice and Clifford Walker nephews.
Mrs. Edith Smith was organist. Mrs. Gordon Gearing and Mrs. Keith Johnson were the singers. The flower girls were five granddaughters: Vicki, Mary, Kathy, Betty and Nancy Fitzmaurice.
