RIPLINGER BOX FACTORY IS DESTROYED BY FIRE

At 2:15 a.m. Wednesday July 2, the Spencer fire department was called to Riplinger to assist in fighting the fire which destroyed the Riplinger Cheese Box factory.  The main part of the factory was completely burned when the firemen arrived, but they succeeded in saving the building that housed the heating plant for the dry kiln.  They also extinguished the fire on the poles that supported the highline transformers which furnished current at the factory.  The boys stayed at the scene of the fire until all danger to adjacent property was over, and then returned to Spencer at 6:00 a.m.  The origin of the fire is unknown, but the State Fire marshal has been asked to make an investigation, and if possible, determine the cause.
