Elmer Knickle was down from Spencer on Saturday.
Mrs. Louis Luster and little son Wyatt arrived here from Birmingham, Ala., Tuesday and are since visiting at A. Malagolis’ on Route 4. Mr. Luster is expected to join them here this month.
Grandma Ide saw her old log house consumed by fire last Saturday afternoon when the Fabian family (tenants and hired man) accidentally burned out. Mr. Fabian was not at the house when the fire, which consumed the building in 20 minutes, started. Mrs. Fabian alone, was most fortunate in saving her children, her sewing machine, a little bedding and herself escaping unharmed. The Fabian family is since living under the Cassius Ide roof.
The Fraueverein, which met with Mrs. Reiff on Wednesday was very largely attended and a most pleasant social affair. The annual election of officers was held at this meeting and the new officers are: Mrs. Henry Braatz, president, and Mrs. Richard Kurth, secretary and president.
Miss Gladys Wage spent Thursday of last week at Chili.
Leo Grassman was a Marshfield visitor last week Thursday.
Will Vandeberg is suffering from blood poisoning in his left hand.
Mrs. Wm. Storm and daughter Frieda visited Neillsville friends Saturday.
Grover Huntley was over from Neillsville on business, Friday.
Wm. Dows was at Neillsville on Tuesday.
Miss Shirley Knorr returned to her studies at Milwaukee, Tuesday.
Dr. P.M. Ross was at Marshfield on professional business on Friday.
Robin Ure was a county seat visitor on Saturday.
District attorney W.J. Rush of Neillsville was here on professional business the first of the week.
Dr. and Mrs. Rath were county seat visitors Tuesday.
Mrs. Geo. Frei spent Tuesday with friends at the Marshfield hospital.
Mrs. Geo. Wilson arrived home from her visit at Plymouth Monday evening.
Mr. Grobe who had been visiting at Rev. Reiff’s went home to Wausau Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Plauel, Mrs. Gustave Hahm were at the county seat on business Tuesday.
John Schafer, Oscar Deetz, Dave Garbush and H.E. Williams were Neillsville visitors on Wednesday.
Mrs. Adolph Schune and daughter Lydia went to Neillsville Wednesday to visit relatives.
A large delegation of Chili folk visited friends here Monday evening and enjoyed the movies.
Geo. Vreeland, who has been cutting wood for Fred Riedel, went home to Neillsville on Saturday.
Miss Esther True of Hatfield was a guest in the E.A. Beeckler home Tuesday.
Miss Anita Schoengarth returned to Eau Claire and her studies there on Tuesday.
Fred O’Brien and Henry Cook spent New Year’s with Ed O’brien’s at Neillsville.
Mrs. Chas. Neinas will entertain the Circle next Wednesday.
Miss Lida Cannon is visiting in this vicinity since Tuesday.
Mrs. A.J. Knorr visited Marshfield friends Tuesday.
Mrs. J.M. Tompkins was a Neillsville visitor on Tuesday.
Mrs. Amelia Pischer spent last week Thursday here with her sister Mrs. August Lautenbach.
Mr. and Mrs. Sid Davis are home from their stay and visit at Grand Rapids since late last week.
Miss Gertrude Davis treated eight of her young school girl friends to a sleigh ride the first of the week.
Mrs. J.H. Muckerheide and daughter Verna came home from Loyal late last week.
Miss Georgia Bradbury of Plymouth is visiting at S. Rounseville’s since last week Thursday.
J.B. Daughhetee of Colby came down Saturday, a welcome visitor among his many friends here.
The Misses Marie Rask of Altoona and Margaret Lindquist of Mankato, Minn. were here on a visit to Margaret Morris Monday and Tuesday.
The Misses Ida Whippke and Mayme Peterson of Black River Falls, after a week’s visit at M. Gebrus’ went home Tuesday.
Mrs. Martin Nelson and baby Reynold of Ebbe, after a visit at Herman Schultz’s in Lynn, went home Tuesday.
Master Claire Glines, who is attending school at Merrillan, spent the holiday vacation ith relatives at Madison.
Vernon Wright came up from Camp Douglas and spent the first of the week here with his sister Mrs. R. Osgood.
John Breese, with Steva Sweet of Beloit, visited relatives at Chili Tuesday. Mr. Sweet then went home to Beloit on Wednesday.
Mr. and Mrs. E.A. Beeckler, Pearl, Bessie, Daphne, Haidee, Ben and Rex spent New Year’s with Mr. and Mrs. Clark Waterman at Chili.
O.A. Peterson was at Dorchester on business on Friday.
Frank Wood returned to Pigeon Falls to resume his school duties next Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schuelke of Cobb arrived Sunday for a short visit among relatives.
Chas. Brooks, with his daughters Pearl and Mrs. Wayne Potter, spent yesterday at Marshfield.
Mrs. Annie Garbush is here at her brother Chas. Riedel’s assisting in the care of her aged mother since yesterday.
Mrs. Robert Kurth spent much of this week with her nieces Ella and Leah Cook.
Miss Elsie Kurth arrived home from an extended visit with New York state relatives, in time for Christmas.
Mrs. W.E. Benedict was the winner of the piano in the contest at the G.E. Amidon drug store.
Carl Reichert spent a couple of days of late week visiting at the home of his uncle Chas. Cornelius at Neillsville.
Otto Henze now gets about with the aid of a crutch and was at Neillsville on a visit last Friday.
Mrs. Woodward was over from Neillsville last Saturday and helped with Helen Baer’s birthday party.
Mrs. Chas. Cross and her three children came over from Chili Saturday on a visit to relatives in the Chas. Hayden home.
James Thompson of Hartford, after a visit to relatives in Greenwood, came Saturday and visited old friends here until Tuesday.
Rush Wentworth went to Winona, Minn. Saturday on a visit to relatives.
Geo. Phipps bought the William Vandeberg 40 acre farm in York last week.
The Misses Estella Krejci and Linda Schwantes spent Thursday with Miss Mary Vaske at the Marshfield Hospital.
Mrs. Annie Williams and daughter Alfreda returned from their visit at Mrs. Wm. Poate’s at Neillsville yesterday.
Miss Mildred Krause was on the sick list and absent from her duties at the post office several days this week.
Mr. and Mrs. E.R. Wonser and daughters autoed out and visited the Fred Ross family on route 2 on Sunday.
Tad McHone, after a month’s visit at his uncle Lester McHone near Chili, went home to Fairchild on Monday.

Mrs. E.A. Beecker is on the sick list and threatened with pneumonia since Tuesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Thomas of the town of Washburn are visiting relatives at Almas Center since Monday.
Lynn Knorr went to Milwaukee Sunday. He has accepted a position there beginning with the New Year.
Geo. Norris, after a several days visit at Howard Beaty’s, went home to Richland Center on Tuesday.
Mrs. Frank Converse came home from Melrose Saturday. Mr. Converse, who is quite well again, remained for a longer visit.
Helen Free, after a 6 day visit with Helene Baer, went to Humbird Monday to visit her sister Mrs. Waters.
Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Neinas, after a week’s visit with Mrs. Mary Peters and others at Appleton, returned home New Year’s morning.
Mrs. Herman Garbush and her 2 children went to Chili Saturday and remained until Monday, guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Grobe.
Claire LaGrander came home from Spring Valley where he is attending school and spent the holidays with his mother and other relatives. He goes back tomorrow.
Vera Sternitzky, oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Sternitzky of the town of Lynn, is very sick with pneumonia since last Sunday.
Dr. and Mrs. H.L. Ross and daughter Dorothea came home from a visit at Wauwatosa and other state points, Tuesday morning.
Frank Tompkins, who came home from Staples, Minn. and spent the holidays with his parents, leaves this week for Jacksonville, Fla.
Miss Hattie Lautenbach went to Curtiss by train Tuesday while her brothers Walter and Paul rove up with their team. They expect to be home again in February.
Mrs. Annie C. Williams and daughter Alfrieda went to Neillsville Monday evening and visited at the Wm. Poate home until the latter part of this week.
Mr. and Mrs. T.D. Wage were the happy recipients of a bag of fine oranges which arrived by express from Mr. and Mrs. John Grasser of California, a Christmas present.
Milton Huntley, after a short visit under the parental roof and a little pleasure trip and visit at Stevens Point, left here for Monticello and his work there again on Monday.
Miss Della Winter entertained a large company of her young friends New Year’s Day at a party in celebration of her 20th birthday.
Miss Bertha Scholtz, the invalid sister of Mrs. Richard Kurth, is fast improving in health and gets about some now without the aid of her crutches.
Mrs. August Lautenbach was taken to the Eau Claire Hospital last Wednesday evening where she expects to enter a hospital for an operation.
The Misses Rose Viergutz and Sadi Ross arrived home Saturday from a two week visit with relatives and friends at Rochester, Minn.
Mrs. Claire Marsh, Miss Elsie Neitzel, Miss Amy Marsha nd Mrs. Lulu Jacobson were Neillsville visitors Saturday.
Mrs. A.D. Henlig, Mrs. Charles Wilke and Mrs. Gus Hahm were among the Granton folks at Neillsville on Friday.
Bernhard Churchill of Milwaukee is spending his two week vacation with relatives in the P.J. Kemmeter family here and in the Dangers and Brameld homes in Neillsville.
Miss Nelva Mundt of Hines, after spending the holidays with her grandparents and other relatives at Chili, left with Miss Gertrude Holmes on the return trip to Hine on Tuesday.
Frank Vasko took his 17-year-old daughter Mary to the hospital at Marshfield last Friday that she might undergo an operation for relief from appendicitis. Mrs. Geo. Frei accompanied them over and remained with Miss Mary and assisted in her care until Sunday noon.
Helen Baer celebrated her 12th birthday last Saturday and entertained sixteen girlfriends at a three course dinner. Indoor games and music were the entertainment; the Misses Shirley Knorr and Mildred Klasam assisting. Helen was presented with many useful and lasting souvenirs of the happy day.
Mrs. John Kubat and Mrs. A.B. Schuler of the town of York, with Mrs. John Aichinger and Mrs. Frank Kubat of Neillsville spent Wednesday with Miss Mary Vasko and other friends at the Marshfield hospital.
Mrs. Wm. Schune, after a several weeks pleasure trip and visit among relatives in Milwaukee, returned home last Saturday.
The M.W.A. and R.N.A. held joint installation and entertained a large and appreciative company at an oyster supper and program Wednesday evening.
Miss Esther Grassman returned to Neillsville Tuesday to resume her study in dress making at the home of Mrs. Richard Welsh.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Lammers and son came home from their visit in Sheboygan Tuesday accompanied by his aunt Mrs. Ogle from the west.
Mrs. A.C. Holmes with Mrs. W.A. Campman and the latter’s little daughter Jean, were over from Neillsville Tuesday and spent the afternoon among relatives.
Rudolph Jackisch, after a visit here with relatives, left for Stillwater, Minn., Monday. From there, after a short visit he will continue on home to Wyoming.
