SPENCER NEWS
Mr. Bymers, son of John Bymers, and family moved into the Frank Neumann house and will be the new operator at the Neumann filling station.
Clifford Hoftiezer is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Shirley Hoftiezer. He has a 20 day leave of absence from camp at Columbus, Ga., due to an operation for appendicitis.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Schwantes of New York City called at the Haslow and Sommers homes. The house where Mr. and Mrs. Sommers lives was formerly the home of Harry Schwantes.
Rev. Sommers, wife and daughter Virginia, of Detroit, Mich., visited Mr. and Mrs. Otto Sommers, enroute to Green Grove to visit his mother and to Frederick, Wis., the home of Mrs. Sommers’ parents.
Carl Krueger, Sr., and Carl Krueger and lady friend of Rib Lake, spent Sunday with their daughter and sister, Mrs. Geo. Seitz, on their way to the hospital at Marshfield where Mrs. Carl Krueger, Sr., is a patient.
Miss Vivian Mack and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mack and son of Madison stopped enroute to St. Croix Falls Sunday to visit Mr. and Mrs. John Karau and daughter, Joan. Miss Vivian Mack was a former pupil of Mrs. Karau.
Mr. and Mrs. Chas Andre and nephew, Maynard Wachholz, left for Milwaukee Sunday evening. Maynard has been visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wachholz north of Spencer. The Andres will return Thursday.
A guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Messer the 4th was Mrs. Messer’s brother, Louis Sauter of Peoria, Ill. He also visited at Dorchester with relatives and left Monday for his home. Mrs. Messer’s little niece, Shirley Mae Sauter of Wausau is also a two weeks’ guest at the Messer home.
Margie Kobs spent the weekend at the Martin Kobs home at Marshfield.
Mr. and Mrs. Myron Foth and family visited relatives at Fairchild the 4th.
B. R. Bombard and A. B. Phillips is assisting the Phillips Bros. with haying.
Mrs. Arthur Hoard and Mrs. L. W. Fronefeld of Marshfield, and granddaughter called on Mrs. Arthur Gall and Mrs. H. Fenner Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Taylor and son, James Allen, returned Sunday from a two weeks vacation at one of the Mess cottages on Elk River at Prentice.
The Big Four garage reports the sale of a DeLuxe Tone Commander Studebaker sedan to Anderson Bros.; a DeLuxe Studebaker Champion Custom sedan to John Witt.
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Haslow and daughter, Maureen; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Kobs and Mr. and Mrs. Myron Foth and family were Sunday evening visitors at the Dan Kobs home.
The three children of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Sersch of Shawano, who have been visiting their grandmother, Mrs. Blaine Swarthout, are spending the week with the Ed. Sersch family.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Kobs, Mr. and Mrs. Willard Kobs and daughter, Shirley; Mr. and Mrs. Dan Kobs and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Kobs and family and Mrs. Martin Kobs and family of Marshfield picniced at Rock Dam the 4th.
Caroline Ann, little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carrol Graves of Ladysmith, was the guest of her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. F. V. McIlhattan. She also visited her grandmother at Colby. Her cousin, Caroline Schwantes of Brighton visited her one day at the McIlhattan home.
Vern Trump, brother of Mrs. H. T. Callahan, and three sons, Danny, Roger and Mickie of Mauston, and her cousin, Clarence Strosinsky of Wilton, will arrived Saturday to spend Sunday and call for Mary Eileen Trump, who has been visiting at the Callahan home for the past three weeks.
