Verhunce Family (Reunion - 1965)

The Verhunce family held a reunion recently after having been separated for 46 years, or since 1919. They are one-time Willard residents.

Andrew Verhunce of Morton Grove, Ill., arranged to have his brothers and sisters get together again after their long absence. The reunion was held at the summer cottage of his brother, Valentine, in Yorkville.

Valentine, who resides in Long Branch, N. J., explained that his brothers and sisters never had been all together since 1919, following the death of their parents.

One sister, Mrs. Mary Morris, now lives in Chicago; a brother, Louis Verhunce, is residing in Texas. Two other brothers live in Illinois, Frank came from his Chicago home; Rudolph made the trip from Morton Grove. Another brother, John, lives in Stratford; and a sister, Mrs. Anna Nelson, now resides in Joliet, Ill.

Nearly 50 people were in attendance at the reunion.

The Verhunce family farm was located at Gorman, west of Willard. The father was accidentally killed in 1918, and the mother died in 1919. Both parents were buried in the Greenwood Cemetery.
