Arp, Emil Gustave (16 March 1882 - 4 September 1965)

 

Funeral services for Emil Gustave Arp, 83, of Sanger, Calif., former resident of the town of Beaver, were held September 11 at the Hill Funeral Home in Greenwood.  The Rev. Carl Booher, pastor of Grace Methodist Church, officiated.  Burial was made in Riverside Cemetery, Withee.

 

Pallbearers were: Earl, Wesley and Robert Worden, Richard Walter, Gerald Steffen and Paul Acker.

 

Mrs. Wayne Voss sang, "The Beautiful Garden of Prayer" and "Just When I Need Him Most," accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Carl Booher.

 

Mr. Arp was born March 16, 1882, in Davenport, Ia.  He was married November 11, 1903, to Anna Gelhaar in that city. The Arps came to Wisconsin in 1912 and lived on a farm in the Town of Beaver.

 

They went to California in 1947 and returned here in 1949.  After the death of his wife in August, 1949, Mr. Arp went back to California, where he had resided since.

 

He died September 4, at the Clovis Convalescent home in California, where he had been a patient for a month.

 

Surviving are a son, Charles, in Tollhouse, Calif.; and two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Marden of San Jose, Calif., and Mrs. Kenneth (Leora) Dyre of Greenwood.  Also surviving are nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

 

People from away attending the funeral were: Mrs. Ethel Marden of San Jose, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Baughman of Burlington, Kans.; Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Nikolai and family of Bakerville; Mr. and Mrs. Larry Dunn of St. Paul, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. James Jacobson of Highland; Mrs. Vera Craig of Madison; Mr. and Mrs. Keith Marden of Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Langfeldt and family of Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Johnson and family, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Johnson and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Schmidt, all of Winter; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Langfeldt, Mr. and Mrs. Max Langfeldt, Mr. and Mrs. Ulysses Cain, Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Stutte, Mr. and Mrs. Duane Stutte and family and Mr. and Mrs. Terry Stutte and family, all of Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Langfeldt of Racine; Mr. and Mrs. Verland Berrett of Spencer; and Mrs. Alvin Wendt of Neillsville and may friends from the Loyal and Greenwood area.
