Dike, Dr. B.H. (? - 10 DEC 1963)

Dr. B.H. Dike, a general practitioner in this community (Owen, Clark Co., Wis.) for more than 30 years until his retirement 12 years ago, died Tuesday.

He passed away at a hospital in Bradenton, Fla., succumbing to multiple internal injuries and factures sustained when struck by a car while enjoying a walk in the park near his home in Bradenton, Fla.

The accident occurred Monday of last week and since that time his condition at the hospital had been listed as critical.

Funeral services will be today at Bradenton, Fla., after which his remains will be shipped to Arlington, Va., for interment in Arlington National Cemetery.  Dr. Dike was a captain in the medical corps during World War I.

Surviving are his wife of Bradenton, and two daughters, Mrs. Tony (Bernice) Pemm, Baraboo, Wis., and Mrs. Arnold (Betty) Celik, Citrus Gardens, Calif.

When Dr. Dike announced intentions to retire from the practice of medicine a little better than 12 years ago he was honored at a party attended mostly by friends of long standing, many of whom he delivered into this world.  More than 400 were at the party held at Meadowview Country Club held Aug. 26, 1951.

In accepting the television set and camera his friends presented him with, he expressed his love for the community which he had served for over 30 years, and the state.

He came to Wisconsin, he said, after a tour of the world following World War I, becamuse it had what he wanted, good fishing.  Prior to coming to Owen he had been associated a short while with his dad practicing medicine in New York State.  In announcing his retirement and intent to move from the community, he said, "I’m pursuing my favorite hobby in my retirement - fishing -- only I’m going to do it in a more acceptable climate in my old age - Florida.
