Greenwood (23 September 1965)
Wilton Karlen, of Greenwood, had his right hand severed and his arm mangled in a corn chipper accident at his home nine miles north of Greenwood September 25. He was taken to the Marshfield hospital.
Ritajean Carteron, 10-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Carteron, fell from her bicycle Friday and fractured her right arm.
Spring graduates of Greenwood High School, who left Tuesday to enroll as freshmen in the state university in La Crosse, were: Janet Brux, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Brux; Judy Bucheger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bucheger; Margie Dyre, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Godfrey Dyre; Carol Alperstett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Alperstett; and Richard Olson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Olson.
The Happy Hustler Homemakers will meet at 8 o’clock tonight (Thursday) at the home of Mrs. Leona Syth, to organize and plan projects and choose leaders for the coming year.
Cpl. Brian Speich, son of Elmer Speich of Rockford, Ill., former residents of Greenwood, was a guest Sunday of his grandmother, Mrs. Jake Speich, and visited other relatives. Cpl. Speich returned recently from Bamberg, Germany, where he was stationed, and was scheduled to report for duty September 16 at San Francisco, enroute to Vietnam.
Dale Brux, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Brux, Alan Bushman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bushman, Frank Briski, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Briski, Michael Susa, son of Mr. and Mrs. Giles Susa, Dennis Syth, son of Mr. and Mrs. Reynold Syth, and Roger Kyle, son of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Kyle, are attending the University extension center at Marshfield.
Mr. and Mrs. George Florin of Elroy and her father, William Heiking, spent Thursday at the Lawrence Cox home. Mr. Heiking remained for an extended visit at the home of his brother, Fred Heiking, in Loyal, and with relatives in the area.
Mrs. Palmer Vinger accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Victor Vinger of Stanley to Madison Sunday, where they visited Chester Vinger, who is a patient in a hospital there.
Guests over the weekend at the Elery Moberg home were his brother, John Moberg of Escanaba, Mich., and Otto Tyberg of Ensign, Mich. Other guests Sunday besides the house guests were: Mr. and Mrs. Everett Kolstad of Sioux Falls, S. D., Emil Kolstad and Arthur Kolstad of Willard, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Klapatauskas and family of Withee, Mr. and Mrs. James Horswill and family of Neillsville, and Arnie and James Becker of Loyal.
The 81st birthday of Mrs. Ida Kusa was observed September 15 at the Clark County Home of the Aged where she is a resident.
