Karnitz, Albert William (6 March 1902 - 3 October 1965)

 

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Zion American Lutheran Church in Pine Valley, for Albert W. Karnitz, 63, of Rt. 3, Neillsville, who died Sunday in Neillsville. The Rev. Evan Dieck officiated. Burial will be made Friday, in Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville, Ill.

 

Albert William Karnitz was born March 6, 1902, in Neillsville, son of the late Fred W. and Marie (Wuhn) Karnitz.  He attended rural schools of Clark County, later going to Illinois, where he was employed by the Crane Company.

 

On May 19, 1934, he was married in Waukegan, Ill., to the former Gertrude Evelsizer, who died in 1963. Following the death of his wife he returned to this area, making his home with his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Thone Karnitz, in Pine Valley.

 

Survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Walter (Alma) Durst of Neillsville, and Mrs. Jake (Lillie) Wallace of Lake Villa, Ill.; two brothers, Thone of rural Neillsville and Edward of Barron.

 

He was preceded in death, the Friday before by his brother Ernest C. (Beanie) Karnitz.

 

He was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Waukegan, Ill.

 

Ellis Wall, accompanied by Mrs. Jess W. Scott sang, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus."

 

Pallbearers were: Earl Marden, Art Ackerman, Arno Durst, Herbert Henning, Art and Fritz Dux.

 

People from out of town attending included: Mr. and Mrs. Ed Karnitz and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Karnitz and family of Barron, Mrs. Bernard Smetana and Mrs. Guy Richmond of Black River Falls.

 

Attending graveside services in Waukegan, Ill., for Albert Karnitz, were Mr. and Mrs. Thone Karnitz, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Karnitz, Mrs. Dorothy Karnitz of this area; and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Karnitz of Barron.
