Schmitz, Katherine (13 February 1892 - 17 October 1965)

Mrs. Katherine Schmitz, 73, of Greenwood died Sunday at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield after being admitted on October 8.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. from St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The Rev. Edward Hartung officiated.  Burial was made in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

The former Katherine Lindner was born February 13, 1892, in Millston. She received her education in Millston and moved to Greenwood in 1910.  She was married October 28, 1913, to Joseph Schmitz in Greenwood.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Ann’s Society and the Home Interest Homemakers club.

Survivors are: five daughters, Mrs. Jack (Cecilia) Bertz of Loyal, Mrs. Joseph (Josephine) Herr, Mrs. Katherine Hefner, Mrs. Donald (Mary Ann) Kocher and Mrs. Burnell (Carol) Yaeger, all of Greenwood; a son, Hubert, of Greenwood; five brothers, Matt, John, Casper, Anton and Gerhard Lindner, all of Greenwood; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Bushman and Mrs. Gerald (Anna) Denk, also of Greenwood; 19 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
