Lund, Minnie E. (2 DEC 1868 - 3 JAN 1960)
Mrs. Minnie E. Lund, widow of the late James Edson Lund, longtime owner and manager of the Thorp Telephone Co. Exchange here, died Sunday noon, Jan. 3, 1960 of old age infirmities at the home of Mrs. Hollis Decker in Thorp City (Clark Co., Wis.) where he had been residing the past year. She had reached the age of ninety-one years, one month and one day.
Born in Cadott Dec. 2, 1868, Minnie E. Williamson was united in marriage to J. Edson Lund at Cadott on June 19, 1907. They lived at Cadott, Eau Claire and Polley, Wis. before coming to Thorp in 1920. Mr. Lund was manager and later owner of the Thorp Telephone Exchange and Mrs. Lund served as chief operator from that year until their retirement in 1938. She and her husband still continued to reside in Thorp, where he died in May 1952.
The deceased was an only child and leaves no immediate relatives, but numerous cousins and a host of friends.
Mrs. Lund was a member of the Eastern Star Order of Stanley, the Rebekah Lodge of Thorp and Women’s Relief Corps. The Eastern Star conducted a service at the Thorp Funeral Home for the deceased on Tuesday evening. Funeral services were held at the Funeral home Chapel at 2:00 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Cecil Ward officiating. Burial was made in the Cadott Cemetery beside her husband. Pallbearers were Kenneth Lindquist, Tony Gulzynski, Wm. J. Kouda, Wm. S. Wagner, John Gadden and Hjalmer Brandsness.
