Fountain, Roy W. (27 JUN 1911 - 18 JAN 1960)

 

Roy Wilford Fountain, a well-loved and highly respected resident of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) for 24 years, died in St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chippewa Falls on Monday, Jan. 18, 1960, after a lingering illness.

 

When he was 9 years of age, he moved to Wisconsin with his parents, Edward and Alma Fountain, and his sister Edna.  The family farmed in the Thorp community until 1936 when they moved to Thorp.

 

After his father passed away in 1932, Roy has cared for his mother, Mrs. Alma Fountain, who survives him.  His sister, Edna passed away May 17, 1941.

 

Roy has been a clerk in the Farmers Store for 19 years.

 

Roy was a good friend and neighbor.  Always ready to help others, kind to everyone and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

 

The funeral was held in the Thorp Funeral Home Thursday afternoon, Jan. 21 at 2:00 p.m.  Rev. Ralph Claybaugh, pastor of the Reseburg Congregational Church, of which Roy was a member, officiated.

 

Burial was made in the Riverside Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were: Pete Asselin, Ted Meyers, Bob Cattanach, Ed Harycki, Clarence Ruff and Ben Burkhardt.
