Urban Motors ‘Grand Opening’ (4 November 1965)

 

Grand Opening of the new Urban Motors garage on Division Street, Highway 10 east, in Neillsville, will be held Friday and Saturday. The public is invited.

 

The Buick and Pontiac dealership for the Neillsville area will provide free coffee and donuts both days, free balloons for the children, and attendance awards.

 

The new and modern automotive garage and salesroom is a Dixisteel building, with a showroom of 26 by 50 feet, containing parts department, two closing offices, bookkeeping facilities and showroom facilities. The shop area is equipped with the latest lubricating test and servicing equipment for General Motors cars according to Joe Urban, Jr., head of Urban Motors.

 

The building is situated on a lot with 225 feet of frontage along Highway 10, and is 300 feet deep. It provides ample parking area and large new and used car sales lots. 

 

"This is the most modern, up-to-date automotive garage presently in Clark County," Mr. Urban said.  "We would like to have all the people of the area visit it, inspect it and enjoy with us an event that is significant to the community."

 

General contractors for the Dixisteel garage building was the Peninsula Construction, Inc., of Schofield.  Plumbing work was done by Warren Medicke Plumbing and Heating of Neillsville; heating work by the Maurer Supply Corp. of Marshfield; electrical work by Paul Volkmann of Neillsville; doors, materials and concrete by Fullerton Lumber Company of Neillsville; carpentry by Robert Kunze, Neillsville contractor; excavating and grading by Boon Bros. of Christie; and signs by Rex Signs of Marshfield.
