Klapatauskas, Mike #3 (4 MAR 1885 - 10 FEB 1960)

 

Michael Mathew Klapatauskas, 74, died of a cerebral hemorrhage Wednesday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Matt Gregorich at Greenwood, where he had resided the past five months.  He had been ill several years with a heart ailment.

 

Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Hill Funeral Home at Greenwood and at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Catholic Church at Willard.  The Rev. Aloysius Madic officiated and burial was in the parish cemetery.

 

Mass servers were 4 grandsons, Mickey, Nicky and Julie Klapatauskas and Billy Debevec and a cousin, Jimmy Klovas.  Pallbearers were Wm. Klovas, Lawrence Kitzhaber, Tony Debevec, Charles Anderson, Joe Gregorich and Elery Mobeg.

 

Mr. Klapatauskas was born in Lithuania, March 4, 1885.  He came to the United States in 1907, to Chicago Heights, Ill., where he married the former Kathryn Jazdouskas on Aug. 24, 1913.  In 1915 they moved to a farm 11 miles south of Thorp in the Town of Mead where they had lived since retiring from farming 10 years ago.  Because of illness he had made his home with his daughter the past five months.

 

He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society in Willard, and director of the Butler School District for 10 years.

 

Surviving are his wife; seven daughters, Mrs. Matt (Katherine) Gregorich, Greenwood; Mrs. Al (Mary) Fischer, Mrs. Ernest (Stella) Dubinsky, Miss Martha Klapatauskas and Mrs. Matt (Josephine) Wind, all of Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Sam (Frances) Vallone, Milwaukee; Mrs. Frank (Agnes) Debevec, Willard; three sons, Julius, Thorp; Mike Jr., Willard; Charles, Withee; 31 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Stanley Lankutis, Lewiston, Mont.

 

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann and a son in infancy.

Klovas, Eau Claire, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Kuehl, Forest Center, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn Forster, Stanley, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Budrus, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Deutschlander of Thorp, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Mabie, Kennan, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Kitzhaber and Mary Jo, Mosinee, Mr. and Mrs. Cal Cornwell, Marshfield, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Rakovec, Marshfield, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Horswill, Neillsville, Mr. and Mrs. Foster Wills, Owen and also Albert Morrison, Galesville, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Klapatauskas, Withee, and many others from the Thorp, Willard and Greenwood areas.
