Spangler, Anton John (19 June 1894 - 15 Oct 1959)
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church for Anton John Spangler, 65, route 2, Loyal who died Thursday morning at the Veteran’s Hospital at Wood. He had been in ill health for some time. The Rev. Norbert Kong, pastor, officiated and burial was made in the parish cemetery. The American Legion Post conducted military rites.
A general rosary service was held at the Myre Funeral home on Sunday.
Mr. Spangler was born June 19, 1894, in the town of York, and received his education there. His entire life was spent on a farm in the Loyal area.
His marriage to the former Eleanor Schwellenbach took place at Neillsville June 4, 1925.
He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. James (Dorothy) Pongratz, Nekoosa, and Marlene Spangler at home; one grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Garbusch, Loyal, and Mrs. Pauline Zink, Cudahy; and two brothers, Joe, Neillsville, and Frank of Cupertino, California.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Phillip and one sister, Nora Magedanz.
Pallbearers were John Wehe, Jerome Wehe, Eugene Wehe, Tony Walter, Edward Schmidt and Herman Noeldner.
Out of town relatives and friends attending the rites included: Rev. Joseph Udulutch, Stratford; Calvin Worchel, Ripon’ Mrs. Lilly Worchel, Ripon; Mrs. Ida Beyer, Glencoe, Illinois; Mr. and Mrs. Max Zink, Cudahy; Mrs. William Scaffidi, Cudahy, Ed Prock, Owen; Roland Schwellenbach, Medford; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Magedanz and family, Marshfield; Phillip Weber, Marshfield; and the following from Neillsville - Mrs. Leona Prock, Mrs. Bessie Spangler, Mrs. Chester Johnson, Mrs. Tillie Schwellenbach and Mrs. Joe Spangler.
