We wonder how those fellows who prophesied an open winter feel about it. It’s a safe guess they fell like going way back and sit down.
Carl Radtke is hauling bolts to Granton.
Rock are on the move in this locality. Will Hurlbut and John Lastofka are getting rock on land for a new house, Vet Pease and Will O’Brien for basements and Chas. Buddinger is hauling some to Loyal on his lots preparatory for the house sometime in the future.
Mart Lastofka and Joseph Lastofka of Neillsville were here Wednesday. I guess. They were out for fresh air and a cutter ride.
Oscar Northup and Will Plummer are hauling ice from Neillsville for the county farm.
Mrs. Frank Lueck and Miss Florence Greeler are recovering from an attack of La Grippe.
Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Bardell left last Tuesday for Florida to look that country over and see how they will like it down there. Our winter is too open for them.
Ed Northup and wife were at the county seat last Tuesday to do some shopping and get a fresh air ride.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Radtke sold their 80 acre farm last Tuesday to Otto Warren of Pine Valley, the purchase price being $11,000 which include personal property.
Some of our tax payers are somewhat afraid to meet the town treasurer this winter on account of taxes being considerably higher this year than last.
Mrs. W. J. Armitage, J.B. Kaudy, Howard Begley, Frank Kubat, C.F. Greeler, A.P. Fulwiler, E.G. Rowe, and R.E. Lawrence attended the school board convention at Neillsville last week Wednesday as school board members. John Lastofka, Irma and ? Rowe also attended.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas O’Brien came down from Minneapolis last week to see their sister Mrs. Margaret Parett, who is sick with pneumonia. Mrs. O’Brien, a trained nurse, si taking care of here since her arrival. Mr. O’Brien returned to his home again on Monday.
C.H. Campbell made a trip to Neillsville last Tuesday on his motor cycle.
Mrs. Mary Fulwiler, who has been visiting at Loyal and Marshfield since Thanksgiving, returned home last Saturday.
Miss Gertrude Vincent has resumed her school duites at Waukesha.
Mr. and Mrs. John Krejci called on Mrs. Krejci’s sister, Mrs. Parrett, last Tuesday.
