Short, Lean M. (24 January 1904 –26 November 1965)

 

Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon from the Georgas Funeral Home for Mrs. Leah M. Short, 61, of Rt. 2 Granton, who died Friday at her home.  The Rev. W. C. Koehler of the United Church of Christ officiated.  Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

 

Mrs. Short was born January 24, 1904, in the Town of Grant, where she had lived her entire life on the same farm.  She attended rural schools and was a graduate of the Neillsville High School.  Her parents were the late Samuel and Anna (Hanke) Cook.  On January 28, 1922, she was married to Eugene Short in Neillsville.  Mr. Short died in 1962.

 

Four children survive. They are Dale of Granton, Mrs. Lavern (Jeannett) Gaier of Magnolia, O., Glenn and Floyd of Neillsville.  Other survivors are a sister, Mrs. Ella Magnuson of Neillsville; and 11 grandchildren.

 

Pallbearers were: Jim West, William Vine, Rollie Dietrich, Tony Hantke, Ernest Kuechenmeister and Clarion Counsell.

 

"The Lord’s My Shepherd" and "Nearer Still Nearer" were sung by Mrs. W. C. Koehler, accompanied by Mrs. Jess W. Scott.

 

People from out of town attending the service were: Mr. and Mrs. LaVerne Gaier and family of Magnolia, O.; Miss Shirley Magnuson of Minneapolis, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Klapper of Cecil; Mr. and Mrs. John J. Hughes, Mr. and Mrs. Clark Hughes and Phillip Hughes of Chippewa Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Gaier of Black River Falls; Mr. and Mrs. James Hughes and Mr. and Mrs. Reinhold Syth of Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. Buster Lea of Alma Center; Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Gaier of Marshfield; and John Hodgson of Madison.
