Szczech, Julia #2 (11 MAR 1882 - 7 FEB 1960)
Mrs. Julia Szczech, 77, a former resident of the Town of Reseburg (Clark Co., Wis.), died at the McNeal Hospital at Berwyn, Ill. Sunday, Feb. 7, 1960 of arterial sclerosis and cerebral embolism. She had been visiting near there the past year.
Julia Szczepaniak was born in Krakow, Poland on March 11, 1882. She came to America in 1904 and was united in marriage to Joseph Szczech (now deceased) on Oct. 16, 1905 in Chicago, Ill. They came to Thorp in 1908 and settled on a farm in the town of Reseburg. Mr. Szczech passed away in 1931. Mrs. Szczech continued on the farm until 1958 when she went to stay with her daughters at Finley Park, Ill., and Berkeley, Ill., until death.
She is survived by five sons, John and Louis of Thorp, Walter of Eau Claire, Frank of Norridge, Ill., and Joe of Oak Park, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Rogus of Finley Park, Ill, and Mrs. Olive Drake of Berkeley, Ill., one sister, Mrs. Louise Zydonis of Cleveland, Ohio, thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandson.
The body was shipped to the Thorp Funeral Home here where it lay in state until the funeral.
Funeral services were conducted by Father Connie Chilicki at St. Hedwig’s Chapel in the city at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 11, 1960, and interment took place in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were Edwin Rogus, Robert Rogus, John Trybula, Anton Plechacek, Robert Zukowski and Donald Zukowski.
