Allen D. Hemann, 41, Greenwood, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012, due to a farm accident. Funeral services were held at noon, on Mondaay, March 5, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greenwood. Rev. Joseph Follmar officiated, Burial followed in St Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Danny Gronwoldt, Kenny Gronwoldt, Ken Boesl, Joey Boesl, Paul Kunze, Chris North, Greg Horn and Dennis Humke.
Allen David Hemann was born on Jan. 9, in Osage, Iowa, to David and Linda (nee Gronwoldt) Hemann. He attended and graduated from Greenwood High School in 1989. He then attended Chippewa Valley Technical College and received a degree in Welding. After graduation, he returned to the family farm. On June 13, 1992, he married Karen Boesl of Boyceville. They continued to actively run their dairy farm until the time of his death. Allen supported his children in FFA and 4-H. He was very involved in the beef cattle show. He enjoyed deer hunting with his son, Mitch, and sampling decorated cakes his daughter, Ashley, would make. He was always ready for a card game and would help any friend or neighbor who needed help. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and was a lifetime member of the Greenwood FFA Alumni. He served as chairman of Mead Township, and was chairman of the Clark County Livestock Committee.
Survivors include his wife, Karen, Greenwood; two children, Ashley Jo Hemann and Mitchell Marvin Hemann, both at home; his father, David (Meryl) Hemann, Janesville; one sister, Crystal Gumz, and her son, Alex Gumz, Spencer; his grandfather, Vince Hemann, Riceville, Iowa; his grandmother, Marlys Gronwoldt, Riceville, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded I death by his mother, Linda L. Hemann; his grandfather, Marvin Gronwoldt Sr.; and his grandmother, Irene Hemann.
