Chili (22 September 1911)

Wednesday afternoon Willie Davis and Emma Kampin were married at the home of the bride’s parents.

Max Wegner from Marshfield was here Wednesday to fix up the lights of Anton Hogenson.

Sunday afternoon a fishing party went up to the Yellow River by hand car to catch fish and get fresh air. A nice time was had.  The most enjoyment was had in pumping the hand car.  Anton Hoganson and A. W. Wendorf being the most industrious workers; if we were section boss and looking for men on the section, we would give them the first chance, they are both long winded.  Of course, John Hefty, our meat market man would do also, but Albert Degener and John Malamphy would not be chosen; they don’t know how.  The amount of fish caught need not be mentioned, as the party had only room to take the small fish along, the larger ones they left in the water.  They forgot the push car.

A few sulky plows are left at Degener’s.

Mrs. Kerkhof had the threshing done Wednesday afternoon.  Meyer’s machine did the work.

Remember: Degener buys grain.

Herman Dankemyer and Wm. Reed traded horses last week.

Four wagons of gypsies were here Tuesday making it disagreeable for the citizen. The women seem to have it in for the men and pester the life out of them.

Don’t forget the raffle and entertainment given by the Royal Neighbors. It is free!  Come and wear a bit of yellow and enjoy the sunshine.
