Voelker, Margaret (1 FEB 1872 - 18 APR 1960)

 

Miss Margaret Voelker, a resident of this community for the past 60 years, passed away at the hospital at Marshfield, Wis., at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, April 18, 1960, where she had been a patient for the past week.  Death was caused by a heart condition.  She had reached the age of 88 years, 2 months and 17 days.

 

Miss Voelker was born at St. Anne, Wis., on Feb. 1, 1872.  She taught school earlier in life and since coming to Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) resided with her sister, Mrs. Pauline Wiltgen.

 

She was a devout Catholic and member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Congregation here and very active in the affairs of the church for many years.  She served as Chief Ranger of the Women’s Catholic Order of Foresters for twenty-nine years and was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis.  Miss Voelker was known by her many friends in this community as a very good neighbor and a generous and charitable person.

 

She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Pauline Wiltgen and Mrs. Catherine Weber, both of Thorp city.

 

Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Herbert Hoffman at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church at 9:00 o'clock Friday morning, April 22nd.  Interment will follow in the parish cemetery..  Six nephews of the deceased will serve as pallbearers.
